Sba Introduces 'made In America Loan Guarantee' For Industrial Growth

The US Small Business Administration (SBA) has announced expanded support for small manufacturers through its International Trade Loan (ITL) programme, offering loans with a 90 percent federal guarantee. The initiative, dubbed the ‘Made in America Loan Guarantee’, is designed to help small manufacturers grow facilities, hire workers, and increase production.

Starting May 1, businesses across the manufacturing sector (NAICS Sectors 31-33) will be eligible for the extended ITL programme. Funds can be used to upgrade equipment, modernise production lines, expand operations, and diversify supply chains, contributing to the broader mission of bringing critical production back to the US.

In a statement, SBA administrator Kelly Loeffler said: “Industrial dominance is essential to our national security and strength. Our new Made in America loan guarantee gives US manufacturers additional financing to expand operations, modernise equipment, and supercharge domestic production. Small businesses make up 98 percent of all manufacturers in America, and the demand for capital to expand and hire is evident.”

The ITL programme intends to unlock long-term, affordable financing with a higher SBA guarantee than the existing 7(a) Loan Programme, designed to give lenders confidence to invest in machinery, facilities, and production capacity. It builds on wider initiatives introduced under the Trump administration “to rebuild America’s industrial dominance”, including tax incentives, waived loan fees, and the Make Onshoring Great Again Portal, which connects manufacturers with domestic suppliers.
