Sgprotein Sends Its Shnëdz Protein Bites To 54 Malaysian Grocery Stores

Singapore plant-based manufacturer SGProtein will begin selling its in-house brand shnëdz in Malaysia in October 2026, the brand’s first retail listing outside its home market. The frozen range will be stocked across 54 outlets operating under the Village Grocer, The Food Merchant, Ben’s and BSC Fine Foods names, priced at RM19.90 per 200g pack.

Four products make up the Malaysian launch: Buffalo-Style Protein Bites, Citrus Protein Bites, Chilli Sin Carne Protein Tips and Protein Nuggets. The ready-to-cook items are made from soy protein and sold frozen, and each 200g pack contains between 16g and 18g of protein, according to the company. The range is halal-certified, allium-free and non-GMO, and SGProtein says it contains all nine essential amino acids.

A manufacturer’s own label

SGProtein built its business as a contract manufacturer, producing plant-based meat for other food brands from its facility in Singapore’s Commonwealth Capital food hub.

The shnëdz brand sells to both retail and foodservice customers, and the company says it will keep developing products for both channels as it expands in the region.

Why Malaysia first

SGProtein cites Malaysia’s retail infrastructure, consumer interest in protein-rich foods and the diversity of its consumer base as the reasons for choosing it as the first export market. Halal certification is a practical requirement for mainstream shelf space in the country, and all four launch products carry it.
