The Illegal Economy
Neil Munro of Breitbart writes,
Numerous Democratic leaders say their high-migration, low-wage sanctuary city economies are crashing because President Donald Trump is requiring them to comply with national labor laws.
I guess that they didn’t see it coming. Munro reports,
The treasurers of Massachusetts, New York, Illinois, Minnesota, and nine other states are asking the federal government to exempt them from national laws that protect Americans’ civil rights, labor, housing, and anti-fraud laws.
“We urge your administration to immediately scale back enforcement activities causing this harm and to ensure the economic stability our communities require,” the treasurers wrote.
Your correspondent is quoted in the Munro piece. Right on cue, from the Minneapolis Star Tribune,
Twin Cities immigration crackdown delays home construction, slows real estate market
When it rains, it pours. The Star Tribune reports,
While it’s too soon to calculate the full economic impact, the shortage is further clogging the residential real estate industry, which was already facing a sales slowdown amid economic uncertainty.
Meanwhile, developers say they are losing out on rental income because they can’t get contractors to finish rehab or maintenance work on units.
Help is on the way, Gov. Tim Walz is telling everyone,
Walz: Larger drawdown of federal agents possible soon, as businesses say impact of surge is ‘not sustainable’
Walz is promising ICE departures in days, rather than weeks. We’ll see. The ICE agents were never going to stay forever.
So when they do depart, and business doesn’t bounce back, and the billions for fraud money stops flowing, then who are the Democrats going to blame?
