The Single Most Important Decision You Will Make In Business

So here’s a lesson I wish someone had hammered into me back in high school: the most important decision in business isn’t your logo, your marketing strategy, or even your hustle. It’s the niche you go into.

When I started out at 18, I had zero clue what I was doing. I panicked and tried selling just about anything I could get my hands on. After years of trial and error, I realized something simple but huge: you can be the best entrepreneur in the world, but if you pick the wrong niche, your ceiling is capped. Put the same effort into the right niche and your business can grow far faster than you imagined.

Some markets are labor intensive, with tiny margins, logistics headaches, and constant pressure. Others are simpler, low-cost, and high-margin, making it easier to scale without burning out.

That’s the difference. Picking the right niche changes everything. You can give more to customers, test more ideas, and grow faster because the math actually works in your favor. Pick the wrong niche, and no amount of grind will get you far.

The lesson? Before you go all in, obsess over your niche. Look at structural upside, margins, and ease of execution. It’s a small decision up front that makes a huge difference down the line.
