The brand’s most iconic footwear trades its New Yorker flair for a style decidedly more at home in the Pacific Northwest.

Timberland’s work boots are among the most iconic ever made. However, they’re also closely associated with hip-hop culture, especially across the Upper East Coast of the USA. There is something decidedly New Yorker about a clean pair of Timbs and a puffer jacket, no?

Well, that affiliation has just been turned on its head with a cross-continental style shift courtesy of the Timberland x Our Legacy Workshop 6-Inch Boot. This heritage, heirloom-level redux sees the iconic silhouette reimagined through a more PNW-like lens.

While the silhouette of these iconic boots remains, the materials and styling have been completely overhauled.

Coast to coast

The traditional version of this boot features a proprietary Timberland leather upper in a “Wheat” colorway (the brand’s signature yellowish hue) with a black padded collar. As you can tell, this one is very different.

Not only has the colorway been completely swapped for a more uniform “Acorn” colorway (on both the upper and the collar), but the material itself has been completely swapped out. Instead of Timberland’s house leather, this is Horween.

The classic “yellow” leather has been swapped for pebbled, full-grain Horween leather.

But it’s not just any Horween leather; it’s pebbled and full-grain, granting it a spectacular heritage look and texture — one that you could say is closer in its styling to the boots worn by loggers and adventurers in Washington, Oregon and even Alaska.

To further that style, the boot also gets the brand’s waterproof treatment and 400 grams of PrimaLoft insulation, so you can really wear them out in any weather or any time of year.

Although you can’t see it, these boots have 400 grams of PrimaLoft insulation.

More outdoorsy than ever?

It’s not just the upper that has gotten a redux, either. The outsole has also been swapped out.

While the boot’s signature tread pattern remains, the material has been switched to Vibram, offering even more grip, slip-resistance and durability — another change that speaks to these boots’ outdoor nature.

The Vibram outsole retains the same signature tread pattern as classic Timberlands, but adds extra grip and stability.

Of course, this all-around ruggedness is to be expected from a collaboration with Swedish outfit Our Legacy Workshop, a brand known for its outdoor flair.

The boot also gets PET cable-style laces, an anti-fatigue removable footbed, a Premium Timberland leather-lined footbed and a fully-gusseted tongue.

The whole package puts a highly unique spin on what is undoubtedly one of the most recognizable boots in the world — one that seems more in line with Timberland’s competition at Red Wing or even a PNW staple like Danner. And it proves that, even after almost 75 years in business, Timberland is still a name to watch out for.

Despite their heritage-inspired styling, these boots feature modern waterproofing, helping protect your feet from the elements wherever you tread.
