Toronto's Newest Hidden Gem Noodle Shop Is Sandwiched Next To A Popular Cafe
Toronto just got a new restaurant serving its most recent noodle obsession, and it shares an address with a very popular local coffee shop.
If there are two things Toronto loves, it's noodles and hidden gem restaurants. Lucky for us, there's no shortage of either in the city. Whether it's a banh mi shop tucked away inside a convenience store or a new Ramen spot from a Michelin-star chef, such establishments are, give or take a few, a license to print money.
Best of all, though, is when a restaurant combines the two, and a recently-opened noodle bar in one of the city's coolest neighbourhoods is doing exactly that.
Nestled cozily next to Carbonic Coffee's new Dundas West location (which was previously home to Hamers Coffee), Hako Noodle Bar is an utterly under-the-radar hit serving a style of noodle Toronto foodies have been having a field day with lately.
Quietly opening its doors in early January 2026, Hako Noodle Bar is the latest restaurant in the city to specialize in abura soba, a Japanese dish that's similar to ramen but is served broth-free.
Coming on the heels of the craze that occurred when Japanese abura soba chain Kajiken opened its first Toronto location in 2025, the timing for Hako Noodle Bar couldn't be better. If the weeks of around-the-corner lineups upon Kajiken's opening are any indication, people in the city are hungry for abura soba.
Though you won't find much information about Hako Noodle Bar online (at the time of publication, their social media presence simply boasts a single graphic), the restaurant is very much open for business, operating both in-house and on Uber Eats.
On the menu, you'll find a vast selection of noodle bowls that come coated in aromatic seasonings and oils, topped with the likes of chashu, thin-sliced beef, chicken, minced pork and tofu.
On top of that, Hako also offers a couple of rice bowls (beef and meat lovers), grilled skewers and sides. It's, without a doubt, one to add to your list the next time you're in the neighbourhood: just make sure you don't walk right by it.
Hako Noodle Bar is located at 870 Dundas St. W.
