Trying To Hang Salvaged Exterior Sign Letters On Drywall At Home -- Ideas?

Card image cap

Hope y'all have more ideas than I've come up with for hanging these reclaimed metal sign letters. Each is about 2' H x 1' W x 3" D, weighing a couple of pounds.

They were originally mounted on a business exterior brick wall with threaded stud things. I tried using those holes to seat long nails in the drywall -- but that's really precarious! I also tried XL Command strips, but the plexi backing is recessed just enough that the strips don't touch the wall.

I thought about putting up 2 floating shelves/ledges that the letters could sit on, but some of the letters (O, U, F) won't stand up on their own.

Do I need french cleats for each letter? One YouTube video mentioned those but the letters didn't have a recessed backing like these do.

Is there something like a screw or nail that goes into drywall but has a flat, wide head for sliding into the space between metal & plexi on the back? I've tried Googling that but Señor Googlé has no idea what I'm talking about. Or I don't know the right way to say it.

TIA for any ideas/advice. I'm fresh out of internet search solutions!

Current setup, minus 2 letters that fell off

Back of letter

Threaded stud holes on back (where I was seating the nail heads)

Plexi is recessed from metal so no Command strips, but there is a gap where something could slide in to hold it up maybe?
