Basra (IraqiNews.com) — UAE-based energy engineering business Lamprell has opened a new office in Basra, expanding its presence in Iraq as the government aims to increase investment and growth in its oil and gas industry.

The new office will help create better connections with operators in southern Iraq and support its increasing operations in one of the Middle East’s main energy markets.

Lamprell stated it has been working with Iraqi customers and industry players over the last year and is now progressing with a local footprint, which will accommodate administrative and operational activities and hire Iraqi staff.

The expansion comes as interest in Iraq’s energy industry grows internationally, with Baghdad looking to attract investment and upgrade oil and gas infrastructure.

Southern Iraq, and in particular the province of Basra, is the heart of the country’s oil sector and home to several of its major producing fields.

The company will engage closely with Iraq’s national oil corporations, foreign energy partners, and other industry players working in the country.

Lamprell has a large portfolio in the energy infrastructure industry, operating mainly in the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
