Versace CEO Emmanuel Gintzburger has departed after leading the Italian luxury fashion house for nearly four years.

Gintzburger took the helm in September 2022. He was previously CEO of  Alexander McQueen for about six years and held leadership roles at Saint Laurent, Jeanne Lanvin and Sephora.

One of the major changes that took place during his time at Versace was the brand’s acquisition by Prada Group last year. The Italian luxury group brought the brand home in a deal worth US$1.375 billion with US-listed Capri Holdings.

Lorenzo Bertelli, chief marketing officer at Prada Group, was named executive chair of Versace after the deal.

According to Vogue Business, Prada Group has confirmed that Gintzburger’s decision to resign took effect on June 23. A successor will be announced “in due course”, the group added.

In February, Pieter Mulier was named chief creative officer for Versace, effective July 1. The announcement came as Dario Vitale left the company in December after only a few months in the role.

Ahead of Mulier’s debut collection next February, the company will need to finalise its management line-up, including Bertelli and the next CEO, to be ready for its new chapter of growth.
