Celebrating Chris L.: Gorham House Team Member Honored With National C.a.p.e. Award

There are people who come to work each day – and then there are people who bring something extra with them: a warmth and positivity that lifts the spirits of everyone around them. At Gorham House in Gorham, Maine, that person is Christavao Lumano, known to residents and team members simply as Chris.

Recently, Chris was recognized on a national level as a 2025 C.A.P.E. Award winner from Cintas, an honor that celebrates Environmental Services (EVS) technicians who go above and beyond to create safe, welcoming environments in health care and senior living communities.

To mark the occasion, Gorham House hosted a special celebration in Chris’s honor, joined by members of Cintas leadership who presented the award and shared more about its significance. The event highlighted the essential role EVS team members play in maintaining a clean, healthy community while supporting the overall resident experience.

“Every community should be so fortunate to have a Chris – someone whose presence turns everyday work into something extraordinary.”

– From Chris’s Nomination

Chris has been part of our team at Gorham House for nearly two years. He knows every resident by name, never hesitates to pause mid-task to make someone feel seen and brings genuine warmth to everything he does. He speaks multiple languages and uses that gift to welcome and support new team members from day one. His dedication goes far beyond his role – he shows up on his days off, takes on whatever is needed and does it all with the same care and consistency that earned him this recognition.

As his nomination puts it: “To be in his orbit is to be reminded of the good in the world.” We couldn’t agree more. On behalf of everyone at Gorham House and the Senior Lifestyle family – congratulations, Chris.
