Aisha Yesufu Reacts As Veteran Actor Yinka Quadri Reveals That His Wife Knows He Dates Other Actresses
Nigerian activist Aisha Yesufu has reacted to a statement by veteran Yoruba actor Yinka Quadri, who disclosed that his wife knows he dates other actresses and does not complain when some of them visit his home.
Yesufu, in her reaction, expressed concern about the potential impact of such relationships on children, warning that they could grow up normalising unhealthy relationship patterns if they were not taught to recognise and break the cycle.
The activist suggested that children raised in such circumstances could develop conflicting perceptions of relationships, with daughters becoming distrustful of men and sons growing up to romanticise behaviour that causes their mothers pain.
“Her sons will tomorrow be looking for wives like their mother while her daughters will dislike men. She most likely will share her pains with her daughters warning them of men like their father while forgetting to share her pains with her sons and they will grow up romanticizing the abusive relationship their mother was in,” Yesufu wrote.
She further warned that the consequences could extend beyond the immediate family if the children carried those experiences into their adult relationships.
“All in all society will be dumped with broken children who become broken adults and unless they are deliberate in breaking the chains will continue the brokenness!” she added.
Yesufu’s comments followed a statement attributed to Quadri, in which the actor claimed that his wife was aware of his relationships with other actresses and sometimes served them food when they visited his home.
“My wife knows I’m dating other actresses. When we finish shooting and some of the actresses I’m dating come to sleep in my house, my wife gives them food, even though she knows they’re my girlfriends. She doesn’t complain,” Quadri was quoted as saying.
The statement has drawn attention to differing views on marriage, fidelity and family relationships, while Yesufu’s response focused on the possible effects of unhealthy relationship patterns on children and the importance of breaking intergenerational cycles.
