Chappell Roan Tells Olivia Rodrigo To Date Girls: ‘this Is Crazy’

Chappell Roan had some blunt dating advice for Olivia Rodrigo after hearing about her experiences with men.Rodrigo recalled the exchange during an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, explaining that the two were working on the second verse of their “expectations” remix when she began sharing stories about her dating life.“Oh my god, you need to start dating girls. This is crazy,” Rodrigo recalled Roan telling her.Roan contributed a new verse to the remix, explaining that while the lyrics were fictional, she had experienced being ghosted while dating men. She also said she enjoys making things “a little gay,” making a queer perspective a natural fit for the collaboration. The remix, released on October 15, features on Rodrigo’s third album, “you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love.” It was produced by Daniel Nigro, who has worked with both singers, and accompanied by a retro-themed music video directed by Bardia Zeinali.Meanwhile, the release date prompted a separate discussion among fans after Taylor Swift dropped piano and acoustic versions of “Patient Zero” on the same day. Some Rodrigo supporters questioned whether Swift’s timing was intended to compete with the collaboration, which arrived hours earlier. Others pushed back, noting that the timing alone does not establish that Swift was trying to overshadow the release. There is no confirmed evidence that Swift’s additional versions were released to compete with Rodrigo and Roan’s remix.
