How Men Get Trapped In People Pleasing. #relationshipadvice #datingtips #relationship
Men, ever been told you’re such a good guy… but still feel stuck? Please share your experiences in the comments.
Many men get trapped in people-pleasing without ever meaning to. You see yourself as a good partner. You show up, stay calm, and try not to rock the boat. Somewhere along the way, that becomes your survival strategy.
For a lot of men, this starts early. You learned that love was conditional. You were praised when you were useful, helpful, or easy to deal with. Over time, you internalized the belief that your value came from what you provided, not what you needed.
So you learned emotional control, not emotional health. As long as you didn’t upset anyone, you felt safe. As long as you kept things smooth, you belonged. But that safety often comes at a cost. Your needs go unspoken. Your feelings get minimized. And slowly, it can feel like you’re disappearing inside your own relationships.
Being a good partner does not mean being silent. Healthy relationships require needs, boundaries, and honest expression. You are allowed to want things. You are allowed to ask for them. And yes, this is something you can learn.
