Even heartthrobs have awkward pasts. On the May 10 episode of SBS’s My Little Old Boy, Seo In Guk joined his agency CEO and fellow actors Lee Si Eon, Tae Won Seok and Kang Mina to help co-star Bae Yu Ram navigate his love life.

While discussing Bae’s romantic struggles at a wine bar, the conversation turned to the sting of rejection. When asked if he had ever been turned down, Seo In Guk surprised everyone by admitting, “I have, so many times.”

He then shared a hilariously awkward story from his younger days about a grand romantic gesture that backfired.

While on a Ferris wheel with an older girl he liked, Seo decided to make his move. “As soon as we got on the Ferris wheel, I said, ‘Hey, I have something to tell you.’ I spoke manfully, sang a song for her, and asked her to be my girlfriend,” he recalled.

The response was nothing he expected: “Let’s just stay as friends.”

Seo revealed that he tried to play it cool, replying, “Of course,” but admitted the rest of the ride was pure torture. “I just stared out the window until we got off,” he said, prompting Kang Mina to empathize, “That must have been suffocating.”

That experience led to a valuable dating tip for men everywhere. “That’s why I try to dissuade anyone who wants to confess by playing the piano and singing. Women don’t really like that,” Seo warned.

Kang Mina strongly agreed, adding, “Personally, I find confessing through piano or singing to be too much to handle.”

Host Seo Jang Hoon reinforced the point for viewers: “Seo In Guk gave good advice. Even though he’s a singer, it’s not recommended. Try not to confess with a song or anything like that.”
