Witney Carson and Robert Irwin formed a lasting bond during their time on “Dancing With the Stars,” where they danced their way to the finale and ultimately took home the coveted mirrorball trophy for season 34.

Becoming a fan favorite on the beloved reality competition, Irwin has also sparked curiosity about his relationship status, with many fans swooning over his kind nature, warm spirit, and infectious love of animals. Carson, who has gotten to know Irwin pretty well throughout their time on the ballroom, recently shared some encouraging words about what the perfect woman for Irwin looks like.

“Dancing With the Stars” pro Witney Carson knows exactly the type of woman Robert Irwin should date. After working closely together for weeks on DWTS, Carson grew incredibly close to the wildlife conservationist, so much so that she feels she understands the kind of partner who would truly complement him.

According to Carson, Irwin would be best matched with someone who can “match that adventurous side of him” while also bringing a sense of “balance” to his life.

“This is scary territory to go into because the amount of DMs and everything I’ve gotten over Robert has been crazy! I told him this, I am like, ‘Your personality has to jive. You’re high energy, go, go, go, you need someone like a foxtrot to balance you out. You need someone nice, calming and grounded,” she told OK! magazine.

She continued, “Not that Robert isn’t grounded, but he’s very much like his energy is high, so I would love for someone to match that adventurous side of him and give him another balancing side to him as well. I want him to date someone who is really kind and nice, and I think he needs someone adventurous because he’s constantly doing the craziest things. I can’t take it!”

During their time on DWTS, the partners poked fun at Irwin’s DM’s blowing up since he began the competition series. In a TikTok, Carson asks Irwin to hand over his phone as she scrolls through the many messages from several of his admirers. Irwin captioned the video, “Whitney taking the wingman job very seriously…”

Irwin Details His Ideal Partner

During his time on “Dancing With the Stars,” Irwin was asked about the qualities he was looking for in a partner. “Well, I think more than anything else just genuine kindness, and that’s so important,” he told E! News.”

He added, “I think you need to surround yourself with people who are genuinely kind and also like my life is a whirlwind. It’s an adventure. And I would love to be able to share that with someone and to share those little moments. I have a lot of great role models in the love department and a lot of people I look up to and go, âWow, couples goals.â So I want to find that.”

More recently, while attending the 2026 NFL Honors in February, Irwin was asked by Access Hollywood about his current relationship status. Though playing coy, Irwin confirmed he was very much single, sharing, “Not much to report.”

For now, Irwin is focusing on his career and the immense fandom he’s received in the U.S. “I’m having the most fun, and like, that’s the thing, you got to love what you do. Every day I wake up with this sense of passion and drive, and now I feel like I’ve got this community on board that I just get to take with me on the journey. I’m so grateful for that.”
