Bingo- Fake Health Crisis- They’re So Predictable

My 81 year old nmother begged to be moved into an independent living facility so assisted in making that happen and she moved less than a week ago. I’ve spoken to her twice and she was very upset both times- saying the food is cold and everyone is “older than her and nobody told her it would be like that”. I’ve known the entire time that this was never about moving- it’s about how she wants attention and when she isn’t getting it- she’ll do anything and everything she can to get it back.

Her two flying monkey friends insisted she needed to move into this facility- even though there’s nothing wrong with her and she doesn’t need assistance. She was previously living in a beautiful condo for the last two years - as my dad slowly died in a locked facility for dementia. She kicked him out of the large home he worked his whole life for and swiftly sold it as he deteriorated.

Anyway today and spouse and I get a call from the facility saying she’s experiencing chest pain and they’ve called an ambulance. LOL. This is the 6th or 7th time she’s called an ambulance on herself in the last six months- probably more but those are the times I’m aware of. She knows that if she complains about chest pain, they will always take her seriously and bring her into hospital. She can get lots of attention that way. I do wonder whether the facility will eventually catch on and refuse to call the ambulance. Who knows. Not my problem anymore.

It is so uncanny how predictable they can be. I knew that the next health “crisis” was right around the corner because she isn’t getting the attention she expected with this big move. I don’t care. I am focused on my own healing. As far as I’m concerned, this is her last stop and any future moves or changes can be her doing or her flying monkey friends.
