How Long Is Normal?
How long is normal? (No, not THAT. ???? I mean VR&E.)
Okay, now that I have your attention…
For those who have gone through VR&E, specifically the Independent Living Program (ILP), how long did it take before you actually received an approval or denial?
I had my in-home evaluation on April 3. Today is August 11, and I still haven’t received an approval, denial, or really any indication of where things stand.
The evaluation was for things related to my independent-living needs, including possible home modifications/equipment.
I understand the VA isn’t exactly known for breaking land-speed records, and I’m genuinely trying to be patient. But we’re now more than four months past the evaluation without even knowing whether I’ve been approved or denied.
So for anyone who’s been through ILP:
How long did you wait after your in-home evaluation?
Is 4+ months without a decision fairly normal, or have I reached the point where I should contact my counselor’s supervisor and politely start asking what exactly is going on?
I’m not trying to get anyone in trouble. I just want to know whether my experience is normal before I start moving this further up the chain.
Thanks, fellow professional VA paperwork survivors. ????
TLDR:
Had my VR&E Independent Living in-home evaluation on April 3. It’s now August 11, over 4 months later, and I still haven’t received an approval, denial, or real update. Is this normal, or is it time to politely contact a supervisor?
Thanks. God Bless.
