The fundraiser, held at Twin Hills Country Club, featured golf, pickleball, card-playing tournaments and an awards dinner. Organizers said the event raised more than $139,000 to benefit elder care programs and services.

JGS Lifecare, a Longmeadow-based nonprofit that serves seniors and their families throughout western Massachusetts, said the annual event has raised more than $2 million over the past 45 years.

This year's proceeds will help fund a new nurse call system at The Leavitt Family Jewish Home, improving communication between residents and caregivers.

"As an organization whose majority of funding comes through Medicaid, the Frankel-Kinsler Classic is an enormously successful and fun way for us to engage the community to provide fiscal resources to help us maintain our quality of care and enrich our programming and services," said Susan Kimball Halpern, vice president of development at JGS Lifecare.

Halpern said the organization is grateful for the support from local businesses and community members who help further its mission of caring for older adults.

Over the years, funds from the tournament have helped pay for resident vans, furnishings, specialized beds, technology upgrades, new flooring and other improvements designed to enhance residents' quality of life.
