Kiwi Mum Start-up Launches World-first Wellbeing Wearable

A Kiwi start-up, founded by two Auckland mothers and backed by government entrepreneurship funding, is looking to fill a gap in the wearable technology market – tracking emotional wellbeing rather than performance.

TAKE.IN, started Ashlee Rose and Kristy Taylor, has launched what it calls a world-first biofeedback necklace designed to help people better understand and regulate their emotional state through breath awareness.

The TAKE.IN Breath Intelligence Necklace combines jewellery design, wearable technology and nervous system science into a device that measures breathing patterns and provides feedback designed to support emotional regulation.

According to the founders, the idea for the product came from a gap in the current wearable market, which they believe focuses heavily on performance tracking rather than emotional wellbeing.

“People are overwhelmed with data, but still feel stressed and disconnected. We want to make breath awareness as fundamental to wellbeing as movement,” said Rose.

TAKE.IN is built around growing scientific understanding that breathing is closely linked to emotional regulation and brain function.

The necklace is designed to help users become more aware of their breathing patterns, with guided breathwork experiences and behavioural insights intended to support longer-term nervous system regulation.

Co-founder Kristy Taylor added the goal is to simplify how people understand stress.

“We’re not trying to optimise people – we’re trying to help them regulate,” she said.

“This is jewellery designed with intention. Something that supports how you feel, not just what you do.”

The company has secured $278,000 in funding from the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE). The product is currently available for pre-order, with delivery expected in November 2026.
