Ray-ban Meta Audio Glasses Arrive With 60-hour Battery
Meta has unveiled a new set of Ray-Ban smart glasses that take a fresh approach to wearable technology.
Unlike the company’s earlier models, the Ray-Ban Meta Audio glasses skip the cameras and instead focus on delivering top-notch audio, hands-free controls, and the capabilities of Meta AI.
In partnership with EssilorLuxottica, the brand behind Ray-Ban, these glasses are crafted to merge the familiar look of traditional eyewear with the functionality of wireless headphones and an AI assistant.
This launch marks another step in Meta’s journey to expand its wearable offerings, specifically targeting those who want smart features without the presence of cameras in their eyewear.

No cameras, but plenty of smart features
What really sets the Ray-Ban Meta Audio glasses apart from Meta’s earlier smart glasses is right in the name: they don’t come with any cameras.
This design choice shifts the focus to audio, allowing users to connect to their favorite apps and enjoy music, podcasts, and more without the hassle of wearing separate earbuds or headphones.
They also make it easy to take phone calls, so you can stay connected while keeping your hands free.
On top of that, Meta has built its AI assistant directly into the glasses. You can ask questions, set reminders, and do other tasks without needing to pull out your smartphone.
And just to clarify, the glasses aren’t always listening. You can activate Meta AI by saying “Hey Meta” or by pressing the action button on the right side.
Six microphones and open-ear speakers
The Ray-Ban Meta Audio glasses are all about audio and calls, featuring a six-microphone array paired with open-ear speakers.
With their open-ear design, you can enjoy your audio while still being aware of your surroundings.
This is similar to other open-ear audio products, but the fact that these speakers are tucked into classic Ray-Ban frames makes them way less obvious than your typical headphones.
The microphones are key for chatting with Meta AI and taking phone calls too.
And here’s a bonus: since there are no cameras, you won’t have to worry about the privacy concerns that often come with smart glasses.
They’re designed to be an audio wearable that looks and feels just like your everyday eyewear.
Two Ray-Ban designs and 23 combinations
Meta is set to launch the Ray-Ban Meta Audio glasses, featuring two chic styles: Clubmaster and Burbank.
With a choice of 23 different color and lens combinations, these glasses offer a level of customization that far surpasses your average headphones.
They also support prescription lenses, which means they could easily take the place of your regular glasses instead of being just another accessory to carry around.
At around 43 grams, Meta assures us that these glasses are light enough for all-day comfort.
This is particularly important for audio wearables, as a heavier frame can lead to discomfort during those long listening sessions.
Up to 60 hours with the charging case
Battery life is a significant aspect of the new glasses.
The Ray-Ban Meta Audio glasses offer up to 12 hours of use on a single charge. When you factor in the charging case, which adds another 48 hours, you’re looking at a total of up to 60 hours before the case itself needs to be plugged in.
That’s a considerable improvement over the continuous use you get from many wireless earbuds, although the actual battery life will depend on how you’re using them—whether it’s for listening to music, making calls, or using Meta AI.
Thanks to the charging case, you can easily give the glasses a quick charge between uses without the hassle of searching for an outlet.
Price and availability
Meta has just opened up pre-orders for the Ray-Ban Meta Audio glasses, with a starting price of $349 in the US. In the UK, they’re priced at £319, and across Europe, they’ll cost you €349.
This places the new audio-only glasses at a higher price point than the $299 starting price of Meta’s camera-equipped smart glasses that were revealed earlier this year.
Mark your calendars, as the Ray-Ban Meta Audio glasses are set to start shipping on October 13.
With this release, Meta is clearly taking two different approaches with its smart glasses.
The camera-equipped models are designed for photography, video, and visual AI, while the new Audio glasses focus on listening, calls, and voice-based AI.
For anyone who loves the Ray-Ban aesthetic but isn’t keen on having cameras, this new model offers a great alternative in Meta’s growing range of wearables.
