Record Amount of Baby Boomers are DYING BROKE

In this 24 July 2026 published video, host Michael Bordenaro talks about how an increasing number of aging baby boomers are exhausting their financial assets before death, driven primarily by skyrocketing healthcare costs, unmanaged eldercare expenses, and insufficient retirement savings. Data tracking final-decade out-of-pocket spending shows that the share of older Americans dying with zero net wealth nearly doubled from 6 percent to roughly 11–12 percent.

Long-term medical care, nursing homes, and in-home assistance routinely wipe out lifetimes of savings in a matter of months or years. Over half of peak-age boomers hold less than $250,000 in personal retirement assets, forcing heavy reliance on fixed Social Security incomes. Aside from involuntary poverty, a subset of retirees intentionally choose to spend down assets on personal experiences or medical needs rather than preserving legacy wealth.
