Royal Enfield’s Flying Flea C6 has officially touched down in Europe, significantly expanding the footprint of one the most hyped electric motorcycles in recent memory.
Inspired by a petrol bike that parachuted onto battlefields during World War II, the C6 hits Paris, London, Barcelona, Berlin and Rome at a starting price of €5,990, or roughly $6,870.
While that makes it cheaper than many motos, it becomes one of the pricier Royal Enfield models, so what do you get for your money?
The round headlight, mirrors and gauge, teardrop tank and exposed frame nail the retro styling; Royal Enfield says the proportions were drawn directly from archival references.
The brand also says it is the only motorcycle on the market today whose front suspension rides on a precision-engineered forged aluminum Girder fork (also inspired by the OG Flying Flea).
The motor sits low in the frame, and the brand credibly says the weight distribution contributes to predictable cornering behavior.
That’s one of many features, including the twist-and-go throttle (no shifting here), that make it the brand’s most rider-friendly model, too.
The tech sheet is understandably loaded: a 3.91 kWh lithium-ion battery makes a claimed 20.6 bhp at 3,500 rpm and 44.2 Ib-ft of maximum, with a top speed of 72 mph.
Regenerative braking actively extends the bike’s range by recovering energy when the rider decelerates; it tops out at 65 miles.
Mated to a high-speed charging system, the Flying Flea C6 can be fully charged from 20 to 80 percent in just over 60 minutes.
Remote monitoring and connected navigation join advanced stability systems such as lean-angle ABS and traction control, while a new feature lets riders switch ride modes based on varying levels of traffic or worsening road conditions.
What’s the C6 actually like to ride? Bangalore Bikes, a Redditor based in India, where the bike launched in July, provides the fullest early impression we have seen yet.
Their closing take? “The Flying Flea C6 is an incredibly fun bike to ride. It is strictly meant for the city, and that is where it shines.
“It feels like a testing ground for Royal Enfield’s future bikes — both electric and petrol. Some of the decisions made here might trickle down to upcoming models. There are a few problems, but most of them seem fixable.”
The big lingering question, then, is will this motorcycle ever actually come to the States?
Royal Enfield has a solid US dealer network and has signaled long-term ambitions for the market, but the Flying Flea’s arrival here remains officially unconfirmed.
So … fingers crossed?
