Why Everyone Is Banning Rayban Meta Smartglasses #tech #privacy #scary
Meta Ray-Ban sunglasses are facing major backlash, and DuckDuckGo is calling attention to the privacy concerns around smart glasses. ????????
Some people have even started referring to Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses as “pervert glasses” because of concerns that someone could be recording you without you realizing it.
And I understand the concern. I’ve had the same thought myself. As cameras become smaller and blend into normal-looking glasses, how do you know when someone is recording?
But there’s another side to this conversation that I think deserves attention.
For people who are blind or have low vision, smart glasses and AI-powered wearable technology can be incredibly useful. These devices may help people read text, recognize objects, identify what’s around them, and navigate the world more independently.
So while DuckDuckGo’s video raises a legitimate question about privacy, I think there’s also an important conversation to be had about accessibility and how life-changing this technology can be for some people.
What do you think about Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses? Are the privacy concerns enough that you wouldn’t want people wearing them around you, or do you think the benefits of this technology outweigh the risks?
Let me know in the comments.
