Former Retirement Unlimited President Sullivan Now Working With Welltower As Consultant

In 2024, then-president of Retirement Unlimited Inc. Doris-Ellie Sullivan stepped down from her post to pursue other opportunities. Now, she is working alongside Welltower (NYSE: WELL) as a consultant.

Sullivan is working with the Toledo, Ohio-based real estate investment trust (REIT) on “community-level programming” – all part of the REIT’s “3.0” iteration, according to a Jan. 2 LinkedIn post from Welltower.

In a Jan. 7 LinkedIn post, Sullivan said she was “grateful to Welltower for the warm welcome and the opportunity to be part of Welltower 3.0.”

“Excited to collaborate, innovate, and help shape the next chapter of active adult and senior living alongside such an industry-leading organization,” she wrote.

A representative for Welltower declined to provide more information about Sullivan’s role when reached by Senior Housing News Wednesday.

According to her LinkedIn profile, Sullivan has consulted for her former employer Retirement Unlimited for the last nine months. She also is listed as founder of Avan Management Group, a company that “partners with owners, investors, and developers to strengthen performance, grow margins and elevate resident experience across active adult and senior living communities.”

The management company’s services include strategic planning and consulting, management and operations, lead generation, margin expansion, service offerings like dining, wellness and fitness, salon and spa and lifestyle services and development, repositioning and turnaround expertise.

Welltower last October outlined how it has taken an even narrower focus on senior living with new incentives for operators and employees as part of that effort. The company also at that time announced deals totaling $14 billion to acquire more than 700 senior living communities in the U.K., U.S., and Canada. In effect, Welltower is now “an operating company in a real estate wrapper,” CEO Shankh Mitra said last year.
