Harmony Senior Services Starts Next Chapter With New Ceo, Growing Portfolio
Traci Taylor-Roberts is the new CEO of Harmony Senior Services, building on decades of senior living experience with an aim to help older adults thrive.
Taylor-Roberts joins the Charleston, South Carolina–based senior living operator after most recently serving as president of Sodalis Senior Living. She also held roles at Pegasus Senior Living, American House Senior Living and Emeritus.
Having grown up in the industry, Taylor-Roberts said she has a “deep empathy” for executive directors’ experiences and the daily operations that help a community thrive. That perspective shapes how she approaches her new CEO role, with a focus on staffing and addressing staff needs.
In her first 90 to 180 days as Harmony’s top leader, Taylor-Roberts said she is “seeking to understand” corporate and community needs by listening to key leaders. From there, she said she will establish priorities that include expanded training for staff and filling key positions such as a corporate director of sales and wellness directors.
“In my role now, I want to be able to support our EDs and give them time to spend with their residents,” Taylor-Roberts said. “You can’t help anybody or develop a really good plan until you actually know what the needs are.”
Taylor-Roberts said her top priority is understanding the needs of Harmony community and corporate teams in her first weeks and months as CEO. To ignite change, Taylor-Roberts said she’s open to offering more training after she identifies needs through her conversations with staff, before taking on new growth.
To strengthen sales and marketing leadership, Taylor-Roberts said the company recently hired a new corporate director of sales who will start in early January.
Heading into 2026, Harmony is approaching 50 communities, and Taylor-Roberts said she wants to emphasize “wellbeing” across all communities. She defined wellbeing as “physical, mental and spiritual” wellness in a “purpose-driven model” that uses resident engagement, staff retention and cultural alignment to create a better senior living experience.
Thanks to Harmony’s existing partnerships with pharmacies, primary care providers, home health and hospice, Taylor-Roberts said the organization is equipped to handle higher-acuity needs and create an “integrated care” environment that older adults are seeking today from a senior living setting.
In her past roles, Taylor-Roberts championed technology initiatives, and she plans to bring that focus into her new position, noting that Harmony is “very supportive” of technology implementation efforts. She sees promise in the ability to use virtual reality programming for higher-acuity residents in assisted living and memory care, creating meaningful travel experiences within the safety of a community for those with dementia or cognitive decline. She also said she will track developments in AI as operators integrate AI tools into daily staff routines to improve efficiency.
Taylor-Roberts said she sees the need for operators to “gamify performance” through a points-based system with rewards that ultimately lead to more staff adopting new technology tools.
“My job is to make my frontline staff member the hero,” Taylor-Roberts said. “You can’t just say you have the culture, you have to live it.”
Looking ahead to new growth, Harmony has been “very strategic” about future scale and has taken a methodical approach to avoid overextending or isolating in a new market.
“Keeping things very regionalized” has helped the organization scale without severe growing pains, she added. As it stands, Taylor-Roberts said she thinks Harmony’s existing size is “doable” when divided among five regional areas, with potential growth looking to complement existing markets.
