Affordable community to undergo renovations in Massachusetts
Congress Construction, in partnership with WinnDevelopment, will serve as the construction manager on a renovation project of The Somerhill, a 97-unit senior living property in Somerville, Massachusetts, according to a news release.
The three-story, 92,000 square-foot community was originally built in 1999. The renovation includes full replacement of the building envelope and all HVAC systems, new insulation, overhauled units and new finishes. Room renovations will add new kitchens, bathrooms, flooring and add a salon, art room and a fitness center.
Khalsa Design Inc. will serve as the project’s architect, with construction expected to be completed in early 2027.

Erickson starts on latest Maryland development
Erickson Senior Living announced the start of construction on Oxford Hills, a new senior living community in Clarksville, Maryland, according to a news release.
The project, spanning 62 acres, will include 1,000 independent living units with multiple common buildings, outdoor amenities, dining venues, fitness and aquatic facilities, walking paths and nature space.
The first phase of the project will add IL residences with underground parking, three dining options, indoor pool, fitness center, outdoor gathering space and a mix of social spaces.
Oxford Hills is scheduled to welcome its first residents in late 2028.
Active Wellness, Manor Park break ground on wellness center
Active Wellness and Manor Park have broken ground on a new 16,775 square-foot senior wellness center in Midland, Texas, with construction now underway, according to a news release.
The project is part of Manor Park’s “Age of Renewal” campaign.
Planned offerings include advanced fitness, recovery and wellness services, along with programming focused on cognitive health and dual-task training to support residents’ independence, physical well-being and mental sharpness.
The center will be branded Activate at Manor Park. Active Wellness will transition into a full management and marketing partner on January 1, 2027, overseeing daily operations and data-driven programming aimed at improving health, performance and quality of life.
RDG Planning and Design worked with Active Wellness and Manor Park to develop the project’s design.

Active adult community opens sales center, model homes
The Celebration Village Peachtree active adult community in Sharpsburg, Georgia recently opened a sales and design center, along with two model homes.
The community, as profiled in Senior Housing News, will include active adult bungalows and concierge living apartments with access to on-site home care, restaurants and resort-style amenities including an aerobic pool, putting green, sport courts for bocce and pickleball, access to a private lake for fishing and a spa and wellness center.
The Peachtree campus is one of five Celebration Village locations underway or open, with additional communities in Athens, Snellville, Forsyth County and Acworth, Georgia.
The community is being developed by Active Senior Concepts.
National Church Residences reopens Texas affordable community
Austin Housing announced the completion of Sunday Village, a newly renovated affordable housing community in Austin, Texas, according to a news release.
The 176-unit property, formerly known as Arbors at Creekside, was renovated through a partnership between National Church Residences and the Austin Housing Finance Corporation.
Residents now have access to a fitness center, arts and crafts room, elevator and a community room with a full kitchen. Individual one- and two-bedroom apartments were also upgraded with faux wood flooring, carpeted bedrooms, fully equipped kitchens, oversized closets and a private patio or solarium.
The project included repairs to exterior building issues, replacement of windows and roofs, full kitchen and bathroom renovations, modernized elevators, brighter hallways, enhanced entry security, a new business center and the replacement of an aging pool with a landscaped covered seating area.
Hayes Barton Place expands with luxury cottages
The life plan community Hayes Barton Place, managed by Liberty Senior Living, announced an expansion of 13 cottages in Raleigh, North Carolina, according to a news release.
Now called Welham Commons Cottages, the homes span 2,025 to 2,158 square feet and include first-floor primary suites, two upstairs bedrooms, covered brick-paved porches, premium appliances and upscale finishes.
With the new cottages, Hayes Barton Place now offers several independent living options, including 169 apartment residences and 24 garden flats. The community also provides assisted living, memory care, rehabilitation and skilled nursing services.
