Evergreen hits construction milestone near Chicago
Evergreen Real Estate Group recently announced a topping-off ceremony for Leyden Senior Apartments, a senior living community currently under construction in Franklin Park, Illinois near Chicago, according to a news release.
The four-story, 80 unit independent living community will include 72 one-bedroom units and eight two-bedroom residences for older adults 62 and older with incomes at or below 60% of the area median income.
Pre-leasing for the community is scheduled to start early next year, with the project expected to be completed by summer 2026, the release states.
“Leyden Senior Apartments and the Carl Fiorito Senior Center demonstrate how senior housing can be co-located with services that further enhance residents’ quality of life,” said David Block, director of development for Evergreen Real Estate Group, which will also manage the residential building. “This project wouldn’t be possible without the leadership of Township Supervisor Rocco Biscaglio and the Board, whose vision of transforming this once-underutilized site is one step closer to reality, allowing area seniors to comfortably and safely age in place.”
Amenities at the community include a community room, fitness center, lounge spaces, laundry facilities and a patio along with on-site parking for residents. Accompanying the project is the Carl Fiorito Senior Center that will be owned and operated by the Leyden Township municipality and will include a community room, heating kitchen, staff offices, a conference room and an outdoor area, the release said.
The community was designed by Weese Langley Klein Architects and the general contractor on the project is F.H. Paschen. Construction crews are currently installing mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection ahead of drywall work, windows and facade finishes being added “over the next couple of months,” according to the release.
The project is financed through the Illinois Housing Development Authority, Bank of America, Hudson Housing, Leden Township and the Cook County Department of Planning and Development.
