Kisco Senior Living announces Las Vegas development

Kisco Senior Living recently announced plans to develop a community in Summerlin, a master-planned community in Las Vegas, according to a news release.

The company is in the “preliminary stages” of planning the community with a desert contemporary aesthetic that includes clean lines, warm natural materials and architecture that connects residents to the surrounding Mojave landscape.

Residences in the development will be some of the “largest in the market,” the release states. The community itself will offer independent living, assisted living and memory care services.

“Summerlin is one of the most compelling senior living markets in the country, and frankly, one of the most underserved when it comes to truly elevated options,” said Andy Kohlberg, president and CEO of Kisco Senior Living. “We’re building something that reflects how today’s older adults want to live: beautifully designed spaces, exceptional food, genuine hospitality, and the security of knowing care is available if and when they need it — all on a simple rental basis with no buy-in required.”

LCS Development starts on second phase of North Carolina development

Porters Neck Village, a senior living community in Wilmington, North Carolina, marked the start of the second phase of a long-range master plan project to modernize the property, according to a news release.

Phase two will replace 68 old independent living apartments with 67 newly designed, larger residences. The new units will include a mix of hybrid homes and a larger apartment building.

The expansion will also add a standalone community space in a courtyard setting along with a pond, walking trains and green space.

Work on the next phase of construction is expected to be completed in September of next year. Phase one was completed in 2023 that added 44 IL residences with new dining venues, theater, arts and crafts room, game room and improved outdoor areas, the release states.

The Empire Group of Companies, Brinkmann Constructors reach construction milestone in Arizona

The Empire Group of Companies, along with Aspirant Development and Brinkmann Constructors announced the topping out construction milestone on a new senior living community in Scottsdale, Arizona, according to a news release.

The Monroe will be the “first high-end” senior living community in Old Town Scottsdale offering “true walkability” in the area, the release states.

The community spans 420,000 square-feet, 228 units and offers a full continuum of care.

“To reach this stage of construction is an exciting and meaningful milestone for our entire team,” said Geoffrey Jacobs, managing partner of Aspirant Development.. “The Monroe represents a new standard for senior living in Scottsdale, one that prioritizes walkability, lifestyle and connection. We are proud to see this vision continue to come to life in the heart of Old Town.”

The Monroe is a mixed-use development consisting of 118 active adult units, 74 independent or assisted living units equipped with full kitchens, and 36 memory care units. The facility includes ground-floor retail and restaurant space for residents and the public. Additionally, a public paseo is part of the project, the release said. The project includes the use of brick, composite wall panels, metal accents and glass guardrails in a stepped form allowing for shaded patio spaces.

Amenities include a theater, chapel, salon, art studio, casual and upscale dining, a fitness center, an activity deck with an outdoor pool and BBQs, a rooftop deck, an indoor-outdoor lounge and communal social spaces.

Cogir Management USA will operate the community. The project is designed by Gensler with Douglas Sydnor Architect & Associates.

United Church Homes finishes major renovations in Indiana

United Church Homes recently announced the grand re-opening of its Capitol Station affordable senior housing property in Indianapolis, according to a news release.

The opening marked the completion of an extensive renovation and federal housing preservation effort at the community. The renovation added updated kitchens and bathrooms, new HVAC systems, improved electrical and plumbing, accessibility upgrades, energy efficient appliances and improved safety features, the release states.

“This renovation represents far more than upgraded apartments — it is an investment in dignity, stability, and opportunity for the older adults who call Capitol Station home,” said Ken Young, president and CEO of United Church Homes. “Through RAD for PRAC and the support of our partners, we have secured the long-term affordability of this community while ensuring residents have a safe, modern, and meaningful place to age abundantly.”
