Wendover Housing Partners plan new affordable development
Wendover Housing Partners has started construction on Legacy Place, a new affordable senior housing property in Altamonte Springs, Florida, according to a news release.
The new community is made possible through a partnership with faith-based community group Hope Center West and City of Orlando.
This comes as Orlando experiences the country’s most severe affordable housing shortage, according to the National Low Income Housing Coalition’s 2026 report. The report states that 13 units are available for every 100 low-income households with over 80% of renters spending over half of their income on housing.
Construction of the new community is being done by DeAngelis Diamond with financing from Goldman Sachs and Berkadia Commercial Mortgage. The property will include 100 new units of affordable housing for older adults. The effort also received $610,000 from the City of Orlando.
Rogerson Communities receives funding for renovation in Massachusetts
Rogerson Communities recently received $1.2 million in federal funding for a redevelopment project of a senior living community in Worcester, Massachusetts, according to a news release.
The project will revitalize the St. Vincent Hospital Convent and Nurses Home attached to the Worcester Senior Center, along with the construction of a new affordable independent living apartment building, the release states.
The project will add 98 affordable homes for older adults in Worcester on a campus of support services.

Distinctive Living starts on cottages development in New Jersey
Distinctive Living announced the start of construction on Live Well Cottages at Vineland, a new, 130-unit development of cottages in Vineland, New Jersey, according to a news release.
The project is in partnership with Live Well Senior Living. The development includes private cottage homes, pocket neighborhoods and integrated home care services spanning a 25-acre campus.
The community was “created specifically to serve middle-income seniors,” the release states.
Each cottage will include access to the community clubhouse, with amenities including a fitness center, bistro and bar, along with access to a playground and dog park. The cottages also come with two hours of home care weekly to help residents age in place.
LifeSpire announces expansion projects at two life plan communities
LifeSpire of Virginia announced plans to expand two of its life plan communities with five new hybrid home buildings, according to a news release.
Richmond’s Lakewood community will expand its independent living segment with three new hybrid home buildings, adding 42 residences to the campus. The other expansion project will add two hybrid home buildings at The Summit in Lynchburg that will bring 22 new residences online, the release states.
The Lakewood expansion will grow the number of hybrid homes to seven and also include improvements to amenities on the campus. THW Design is leading development and planning for the Lakewood project.
The latest expansion project at The Summit will bring the number of hybrid homes on campus to four, building off of the success of two past hybrid home buildings that are being sold while construction is underway.
Work continues on The Summit’s new wellness center, Blue Ridge Commons, that will add a 30,000 square-foot wellness space and memory support center designed by SFCS Architects in cooperation with The Summit.
“Hybrid homes represent what so many older adults are asking for. They want privacy and space balanced with community living, and access to high-quality care,” said Jonathan Cook, LifeSpire President and CEO. “We’re seeing continued enthusiasm for this model at LifeSpire, and these expansions allow us to welcome more residents into our communities and meet that demand with thoughtful planning and design.”
