Rogerson announces gift in support of memory care project

Rogerson Communities announced a “six-figure naming gift” made by Rogerson Board of Directors Chair Mary Jeka in support of the company’s plans to redevelop the Rogerson House in Jamaica Plain.

Jeka’s gift will be marked with the dedication of a library space, known as the Jeka Family Library, on the building’s main level following the completion of the project. Rogerson is currently in pre-development of an updated and expanded community of 66 private memory care beds, along with 41 affordable independent living units and a dedicated space for a 24-person adult day program.

The new building will also include courtyards, outdoor spaces open to the public and residents, along with gardens featuring native plants and vegetation.

Saratoga Retirement Community plans expansion in California

The Saratoga Retirement Community, managed by an affiliate of Transforming Age in Saratoga, California, announced plans to add additional apartments at the community that’s been open since 1912, according to a news release.

The project will add 52 new apartments across three new buildings on the campus, along with one, new single-story cottage and a new 3,300 square-foot auditorium with sixteen garage parking spaces underground. Other improvements include dining room upgrades and an exercise room.

This project was made possible after it was announced that nonprofit public benefit corporation Odd Fellows Home of California had closed on $101.74 million in financing for the organization through the California Statewide Communities Development Authority.

Arizona nonprofit community announces preschool on campus

The Glencroft Center for Modern Aging, one of the largest nonprofit senior living communities in Arizona, announced plans to open a preschool on its campus in partnership with Bezos Academy later this year.

Bezos Academy, named for Amazon Founder and former CEO Jeff Bezos, is Montessori-based offering tuition-free preschool for children ages three to five. The full-day preschool will open this fall at no cost to families, giving residents the chance to engage with students and build intergenerational connections.

Enrollment is now open for the Bezos Academy Glendale-Sahuaro Glenn at no-cost through scholarships. In 2025, the community partnered with local agencies to support young adults transitioning out of foster care by providing housing and job training programs.

“Our partnership with Bezos Academy brings a new opportunity for spirited Glencroft residents to engage with the younger generations,” said John Thorhauer, CEO of Glencroft. “Residents can share their time, knowledge and experiences, while the students benefit from interactive learning, creating intergenerational connections that enrich both groups.”

Currently there are 16 Bezos Academy schools in the U.S. In 2022, SHN profiled how Forefront Living announced plans for a Bezos Academy in Dallas.
