A Place At Home expands into South Texas with Pearland location

A Place At Home recently announced the opening of a new franchise location in Pearland, Texas, according to a news release.

The location is led by co-owner and care manager Lynn Qualls, who brings more than 30 years of experience in the senior living industry. Qualls will operate the business alongside her son and daughter-in-law, Jared and Kristin, as a family-run operation.

The new location aims to meet growing demand for in-home care services in the region.

Services will include in-home assessments and personalized care plans, assistance with activities of daily living, medication reminders, meal preparation, light housekeeping, transportation, respite care and companionship.

“Pearland is full of families who care deeply about their loved ones, and I’ve seen how overwhelming it can feel when a parent starts needing more support,” said Qualls. “Our job is to make that easier, to keep seniors living safely, independently and engaged at home and to keep families informed every step of the way.”

McDowell Housing Partners, Miami Jewish Health complete affordable senior living community in Florida

McDowell Housing Partners and Miami Jewish Health recently announced the completion of Douglas Gardens Senior Health and Living, a 410-unit mixed-income, mixed-use senior housing community in Pembroke Pines, Florida, according to a news release.

The $139 million development is the largest affordable senior housing community in Broward County and the second largest in the state, the release states. The project combines residential living with on-site healthcare services, including what the news release notes is Florida’s largest Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) center located on campus.

The community is designed for residents ages 55 and older, primarily serving those earning 30% and 60% of the area median income, with additional units available at 100% AMI. Residences include studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments ranging from 565 to 1,005 square feet.

Amenities include a pond with walking paths, fitness center, theater room, business center and multiple indoor and outdoor gathering spaces.

“This project demanded something more than standard development. It demanded creativity, persistence and an unshakeable belief that the seniors of Broward County deserve better,” said W. Patrick McDowell, chairman and CEO of McDowell Housing Partners. “Douglas Gardens is not the result of a formula. It is the result of a team that refused to accept ‘no’ as an answer and engineered solutions when conventional ones ran out.”

This represents the third collaboration between McDowell Housing Partners and Miami Jewish Health. The development team included ANF Group as construction manager, Reprtwar Architecture and Design, Keith and Associates and Jewel Toned Interiors.
