Midwest Health Acquires 15 Assisted Living Communities In ‘milestone’ Deal
Midwest Health, a Topeka, Kansas-based senior living operator, has expanded its reach following the acquisition of 15 assisted living communities across Kansas, representing the largest expansion in the company’s history.
The deal comprises 600 units and is slated to add around 315 employees to the company’s network, according to a press release. The operator now serves around 4,000 seniors with over 3,800 team members across six states, with a total of 104 communities.
The operator rebranded the 15 communities, previously operating under the brand Vintage Park, to Homestead Assisted Living.
“This acquisition is a milestone for our company, expanding our footprint in Kansas,” Brett Klausman, president of Midwest Health, said in the release. “With the help from our financial partner, Capitol Federal Savings Bank, we’re supporting Kansas seniors and creating jobs for Kansans. We’re investing in the future of our state while caring for our neighbors.”
The majority of Midwest Health’s portfolio consists of smaller communities with 40 units or less outside of major metropolitan areas, according to Marketing Director Ali Ellis.
The new communities are located in Atchison, Baldwin City, Gardner, Hiawatha, Holton, Lenexa, Louisburg, Osage City, Osawatomie, Ottawa, Overland Park, Paola, Tonganoxie, Wamego and Wichita, the release states.
Each of the new communities fits within the company’s “bread and butter” in more rural areas “serving teachers, farmers and former city officials that want to age in place,” Ellis told Senior Housing News.
Aside from its latest batch of acquisitions, Midwest Health has acquired 32 communities since 2018.
CEO and Co-Founder Jim Klausman said the operator is in senior living for the “long haul.”
“Midwest Health has always believed that great care starts locally. The services these communities provide are essential – especially in rural areas where both access to healthcare and jobs are needed,” he said in the release. “With our network of tools and resources, all our communities will continue to provide outstanding support for decades to come.”
