Civitas Senior Living announces leadership shifts

Civitas Senior Living announced changing roles for two of its co-founders.

Misti Powell has been appointed to the company’s board of directors, bringing more than 20 years of experience with her. Since founding the company in 2012, she is credited with being “a driving force behind the company’s programs, policies and operational standards, with a consistent focus on residents, families and employees,” according to a press release.

Co-founder Amy Vittitow is expanding her focus as the company’s chief experience officer, where she will take on supporting team development, organizational alignment and the employee and resident experience across the company, the release states.

“This transition reflects how Civitas has always operated: with intention, heart, clarity and a deep commitment to people,” Vittitow said in the release. “Our people are the reason residents choose us and stay with us. Supporting them well supports everything else.”

Acts Retirement-Life CEO announces retirement

Acts Retirement-Life, a nonprofit senior living provider, announced CEO Gerald Grant’s plan to retire at the end of 2026.

Grant will continue to serve as the CEO through the remainder of his term, according to a press release. The plan for selecting the next CEO is anticipated to take a full year to “support an orderly leadership change and ensure continuity across Acts’ operations, strategy and long-term commitments.”

Cura Living names COO

Crissy Tohey has been named as the new chief operating officer of Cura Living.

In her role, Tohey will focus on “strengthening Cura Living’s culture from the inside out, empowering team members at every level and creating systems that support care, accountability and excellence, ensuring the organization is built to last in a demanding and evolving senior housing landscape,” a press release states.

Tohey brings more than 25 years of experience to the position across fitness, wellness, sales and operations, the release states.

John Knox Village announces CEO

John Knox Village of Florida, Inc. named Melissa Honig as its first woman CEO.

Most recently, Honig served as the executive director of Valle Verde in Santa Barbara, a HumanGood life plan community, according to a press release.

Her priorities as CEO include “building strong relationships across campus, fostering organizational transparency and advancing initiatives that elevate the quality of life, services and amenities for residents,” the release states.

CareTrust promotes chief financial officer

CareTrust REIT has promoted Derek Bunker into the role of chief financial officer.

Bunker previously served as the real estate investment trust’s senior vice president of strategy and investor relations, according to LinkedIn.

A press release states that in addition to Bunker’s promotion, the company also promoted Joe Layne to senior vice president of corporate counsel and Rory Williams to senior vice president of portfolio management.

LCS promotes director of market research

LCS has promoted Mindi TenNapel to the company’s director of market research.

In her role, TenNapel will “spearhead LCS research efforts, advance the organization’s market research capabilities and use insights to anticipate the evolving needs of seniors,” a press release states.

TenNapel brings “deep expertise in data science and statistical methods and design” to the position, and has a Ph.D. in epidemiology and a certificate in biostatistics, the release states.
