Lutheran Life Communities appoints CEO
Lutheran Life Communities announced it has appointed Abdul Shakoor as its president and CEO, effective March 27.
He has been with the organization for five years and has worked across operations, clinical leadership and finance while overseeing enterprise risk management, according to a press release.
Prior to joining Lutheran Life Communities, Shakoor served as deputy general counsel for Lifespace Communities, where he oversaw legal affairs and supported redevelopment initiatives across multiple senior living communities, the release states.
Jaybird Senior Living welcomes SVP of operations
Jaybird Senior Living has welcomed Erica Ogle as its new senior vice president of operations.
In her new role, Ogle will “shape operational strategy, champion and support leadership teams and ensure Jaybird continues to deliver exceptional care and vibrant lifestyles to residents,” a press release states.
Ogle brings over 10 years of experience to the position. Most recently, she served as regional vice president of operations at Pegasus Senior Living, the release states.
Marquis Health Consulting Services names senior vice president
Marquis Health Consulting Services named Joseph DeMattos as its senior vice president of public affairs.
In his new position, DeMattos is “leading stakeholder engagement to advance the organization’s mission, reputation and influence across the post-acute, long-term care and senior living landscape,” according to a press release.
He previously served as president and CEO of the Health Facilities Association of Maryland. He was also senior state director of AARP Maryland and held national AARP leadership roles supporting campaigns for Medicare Prescription Drug and Social Security, the release states.
FellowshipLife announces leadership appointments
Nonprofit operator FellowshipLife announced it has appointed Lori Vernachio as executive director at Pines Village in Whiting and David Van Den Heuvel as lifestyle and hospitality director at Riverwalk Village at The House of the Good Shepherd in Hackettstown.
Vernachio brings over 20 years of experience to the position, where he will oversee the daily operations of the community. He previously served as executive director of Brighton Gardens of Edison for Sunrise Senior Living, and held leadership roles at other continuing care retirement communities across New Jersey, according to a press release.
Van Den Heuvel joined the organization in 2025 and brings more than 20 years of experience to the position. In his role, he will “lead community life programming and engagement initiatives designed to enhance residents’ social connections and daily experiences,” the release states.
Hermitage Richmond names executive director
Hermitage Richmond announced Tom Ficklin as its executive director.
In his role, Ficklin is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the community.
He comes to Hermitage Richmond from Glenaire in Cary, North Carolina, where he served as associate executive director. He also held executive leadership roles with CommuniCare Health Services and ManorCare of Richmond, according to a press release.
Pinnacle Living appoints executive director
Pinnacle Living announced James Stovall has been appointed executive director of its WindsorMeade community.
In his role, he is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the community.
Stovall joined Pinnacle in 2019 and has served in leadership roles at Hermitage Roanoke, most recently as executive director of Hermitage Richmond, a press release states.
New executive director appointed to The Watermark at the Pearl
Watermark Retirement Communities has appointed Ben Young as executive director at The Watermark at the Pearl.
In his role, Young will oversee the daily operations of the community.
Young brings more than 20 years of experience as a health care administrator and senior living executive director to the position, according to a press release. He previously spent six years as the executive director of Cogir of Glenwood, a senior living community in Vancouver, Washington, the release states.
