NHI appoints first COO

National Health Investors, Inc. (NYSE: NHI) has appointed Chris Maingot as its first chief operating officer, effective July 27.

The addition of the position is meant to enhance NHI ability to expand its senior housing operating portfolio and deepen relationships with operators, Eric Mendelsohn, NHI president and CEO, said in a press release.

“As the company’s first COO, Chris brings exceptional operating experience managing large senior housing portfolios and working alongside leading operators,” Mendelsohn said in the release. “His strategic and operational perspective will strengthen our operating platform and position NHI to capitalize on the significant opportunities ahead.”

Prior to joining NHI, spent more than a decade at Brookdale Senior Living. The most recent position he held there was senior vice president of corporate development and strategic initiatives, where he “helped shape the company’s long-term strategy, oversaw relationships with major REIT and operating partners and led initiatives involving portfolio optimization, capital allocation, healthcare strategy and corporate development,” according to the release.

The appointment comes at a time when NHI is focusing on strengthening its senior housing portfolio. Earlier this year, the REIT inked a $560 million skilled nursing sale, with the proceeds dedicated to additional senior housing acquisitions. As of early May, NHI had 35 senior housing properties, making up nearly one-quarter of its total portfolio.

In the first half of the year, NHI invested over $212 million in senior housing properties.

Partner promoted at Plante Moran Living Forward

Plante Moran Living Forward, the senior living development advisory division of commercial real estate firm Plante Moran Realpoint, has promoted Steve Przybilla to partner.

“Steve’s dedication to helping clients make significant operational and financial improvements has helped bring millions of dollars to the bottom line for our clients and in turn, improved the places of care for seniors,” Dana Wollschlager, partner and practice leader of PMLF, said in a press release.

Przybilla brings more than 30 years of experience to the position, and is credited with leading “campus repositioning projects, greenfield development from planning through start-up and operational turnarounds resulting in organizational growth,” the release states.

PMLF announced four other promotions as well: Kyle DeHenau has been promoted to principal, Jacob Boss and John Cassidy have been promoted to senior vice president and Deanna Tyler has been promoted to senior consultant.

Springpoint promotes two leaders

Springpoint, a nonprofit senior living operator, has made two leadership promotions with Sandi Ko and Amy Nicklas.

Ko has been promoted to senior vice president and chief people officer. In her expanded role, Ko will “continue serving as Springpoint’s chief compliance officer while leading the organization’s strategic vision for its people, culture and workforce,” a press release states. She has been with the organization since 2014.

Nicklas has been promoted to director of sales and marketing for Springpoint Choice, a membership-based program the nonprofit offers. She joined the program in 2001 and is credited with having “an instrumental role in its growth and expansion,” according to the release.

Veteran senior living executive joins Acts board

Acts Retirement-Life Communities welcomed Terri Cunliffe to its board of directors.

Cunliffe has more than 36 years of leadership experience in continuing care retirement communities and nonprofit senior living, a press release states.

She most recently served as the CEO of Covenant Living Communities and Services.

Juniper Communities launches sales advisory council

Juniper Communities has formally established a new leadership initiative with a sales advisory council.

The council will “bring together tenured directors of sales and marketing who are well-versed in Juniper’s sales process and driving occupancy,” a press release states.

The inaugural members of the council include BJ DiDonato and Terri Doody from Juniper Village at Newark; Cori Agostinelli from Juniper Village at Brookline; Colleen Peluso from Juniper Village at Monroeville; Megan Sincaglia and Michelle McDonald from Juniper Village at Paramus; and Megan Wood from Juniper village at Williamstown.

Sales leader appointed at Westminster Communities of Florida

Westminster Communities of Florida has appointed Joseph Chambers as its vice president of sales and marketing.

In his role, Chambers will oversee sales and marketing for “Florida’s largest not-for-profit multi-site senior living provider” by helping advance organizational goals and strategic expansion efforts, while ensuring occupancy levels continue to exceed National Investment Center (NIC) averages, according to a press release.

Chambers brings nearly 30 years of experience to the position. Most recently, he served in senior leadership roles with Vi Senior Living and Lifespace Communities, where he “directed enterprise sales and marketing strategies, implemented performance improvement initiatives and successfully drove occupancy for expansion and redevelopment projects,” the release states.

Blakehurst welcomes new executive director

Blakehurst, a life plan community managed by LCS, has appointed Renee Garvin as its new executive director.

In her role, Garvin will “lead Blakehurst’s dedicated team in continuing to provide the exceptional lifestyle residents have come to expect,” a press release states.

She brings more than 30 years of experience to the role. Most recently, she served as the executive director of Carroll Lutheran Village in Westminster, Maryland.

Associate executive director promoted at Erickson community

Emerson Lakes, an Erickson Senior Living community coming to Lakewood Ranch, Florida, has promoted Adam Zubowsky to associate executive director.

In this role, Zubowsky will help lead community operations and enhance the resident experience, according to a press release.

He joined Erickson in 2020 as a sales counselor at Avery Point in Richmond, Virginia. He was promoted to sales director of Emerson Lakes in 2023.

Kailey Viray has been named as the community’s new sales director. She previously served as the sales director at Avery Point.

New executive director brings decades of experience to Carroll Lutheran Village

Carroll Lutheran Village has appointed Vanessa Berger as its new executive director.

In her role, Berger will “oversee the day-to-day operations of CLV while working closely with residents, families and team members to further the community’s mission of providing exceptional service,” according to a press release.

Berger brings more than 20 years of experience to the position, the release states.
