Partial Settlement Reached In Exp Sexual Assault Suit

The sexual assault lawsuit filed against eXp Realty by Anya Roberts now has one fewer defendant.

Earlier this month, Roberts notified the court that she had reached a settlement with defendant Brent Gove. According to the filing, the settlement terms are confidential, but it notes that the settlement “fully and finally” resolves all of the plaintiff’s claims against him in the lawsuit. Gove is the only defendant the settlement covers.

While Gove is not accused of sexual assault or harassment, Roberts did claim in her lawsuit that he was the recruiter responsible for bringing the men, whom she has accused of assault, to eXp Realty.

Originally filed in December 2023, the lawsuit centers around a recruiting event hosted by Gove in February 2020, a sunset cruise that Gove dubbed “Freedom Summit.” Roberts alleges that the girlfriend of David Golden, one of the men she has claimed sexually assaulted her, placed a pill in her mouth and told her it was Adderall. Instead, it was a drug that caused Roberts to black out. While Roberts has said she doesn’t remember the majority of what happened after blacking out, she said that through the testimony of others at the event, flashes of memory that came back to her and contextual clues, she concluded that she was raped by Golden and another former eXp agent Michael Bjorkman.

Neither Golden nor Bjorkman are currently associated with eXp Realty.

In response to an amended complaint filed in June 2024, Gove denied the charge of participating in a human trafficking enterprise that resulted in the alleged drugging and rape of Roberts by Bjorkman and Golden.

eXp Realty, eXp World Holdings, Bjorkman, Golden and Glenn Sanford all still face allegations in the lawsuit. Sanford and the eXp defendants had previously been dismissed from a prior complaint in the lawsuit in May 2024, but were again named as defendants in an amended complaint.
