Remax Adds 300-agent Rhode Island Brokerage

REMAX has added a large Rhode Island brokerage to its network after HomeSmart Professionals announced it will rebrand and operate as REMAX Revolution.

The firm — owned by Dean deTonnancourt — brings more than 300 agents and six offices into the REMAX system.

The move adds to the franchise network’s presence in Rhode Island as the company continues to expand through conversions.

HomeSmart Professionals was one of the larger brokerages operating in Rhode Island before the change. The firm reported just over $710 million in annual volume on the most 2025 RealTrends Verified rankings.

REMAX’s global network now includes more than 145,000 agents operating in 120-plus countries and territories.

“Dean and his agents add to the leading market share REMAX has in Rhode Island, and we’re excited to welcome them into the global REMAX community,” said REMAX CEO Erik Carlson. “Dean’s decision to convert his operation echoes the moves of several other broker-owners this past year. They’re seeing the massive value REMAX offers their agents — for both now and the future.”

Previously working as a REMAX agent before becoming a broker, deTonnancourt later introduced the Keller Williams brand to Rhode Island in 2000.

In 2014, he launched HomeSmart Professionals — the first East Coast location affiliated with the HomeSmart franchise.

He also cited the brand’s recognition and global reach as factors in the decision to convert the brokerage.

The move follows several other recent brokerage conversions to the REMAX brand in North America.

Those include REMAX Your Community Realty and REMAX Connect Realty in Toronto — described by the company as the largest conversion in its history — as well as REMAX Welcome Home in Florida and REMAX Hawaii in Honolulu.
