Revel Expands Travel Program For Residents In New Partnership With Collette Tours

As senior living residents seek out new experiences, Revel Communities is giving them a new way to travel to new locales.

This week, the senior living operator announced the launch of Revel Away, a travel program that lets residents explore destinations such as Quebec, Canada or the New England region in the U.S. Revel is launching the program in partnership with guided travel company Collette, which for decades has offered guided tour services for travelers across the globe.

The new offering is an extension of the operator’s Revel Travel Club, a program that gives residents the chance to stay at any other Revel community in a guest suite. Chief Operating Officer Erin Caswell said the popularity of the program and its expansion exemplifies the demand for travel and connection beyond the walls of a senior living community.

The genesis of the program came about during a trip to Chicago. The Scottsdale, Arizona-based operator had a “strong proof of concept” when a group of residents traveled to the city together to see their favorite rugby team play. When they got back, among their first questions were, “Where are we going next?”

“It seemed really natural that we would dust off the planning board and finalize plans for our Revel Away travel program,” Caswell told Senior Housing News.

Residents are already traveling in certain months of the year, and Revel’s new program taps into that demand and offers them services geared toward senior living.

The program is launching with two trips planned in 2027: a “Charms of Quebec” trip in the summer featuring cultural excursions, culinary experiences and sightseeing through Montreal, Charlevoix and Quebec City, Canada; and “Discover Colors of New England” in the fall, which includes stops throughout Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine.

Revel is starting with plans for no more than three trips per year, and residents will pay out of pocket for the “reasonable” costs of attendance.

This isn’t the first time Revel has included hospitality and travel focused offerings for residents. In 2021, the operator rolled out its Revel Seasonal Residences program, which allows residents to rent fully furnished units for short-term stays across its 12-community portfolio, which was recently acquired by Ventas (NYSE: VTR). The Revel Travel Club has been available for residents since the company’s inception, which allows them to spend a week in one of two fully furnished, hotel-level rooms in a community.

“We hear residents are not looking for senior living to limit their lives, they’re looking for it to support the life they want to keep living,” Caswell told SHN. “Our job is to listen to them and to find ways that the Revel can respond in kind.”

Revel’s residents are already responding with excitement about the program and there is already interest generated in the initial two trips next year. As it continues to develop, she said it will continue to improve community culture for the residents.

“The residents come back and share memories that really become part of the community culture,” she said. “That’s really going to reward the communities and make them feel even, even warmer, and make them open to even more experiences together.”
