After being diagnosed with incurable stage 4 metastatic breast cancer, Lindsy Matthews began questioning how we can stop fear of the future from stealing joy in the present. In this TEDx talk, she talks about episodic future thinking, otherwise known as mental time travel, which is a simple but powerful way to borrow perspective from our future selves to change how we experience life today. Through personal storytelling, humor, and insights on the mind-body connection, this talk explores how we don't need to change our lives completely to be living it to the fullest - we just need to change how we experience the lives we already have. Lindsy Matthews is an award-winning speaker highlighting resilience, positive mindset, and health advocacy through the lens of living with incurable stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. Expanding on her passion for storytelling and confident communication, Lindsy is also a public speaking instructor at the University of Toronto School of Continuing Studies known for her engaging, fun and relatable teaching style. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
