DES MOINES New data released this monthshows Iowans are paying 5.2% more for energy, adding up to $70 more dollars coming out of the pockets of families at a time when costs are already high.Another reportshows home insurance rates are up 28% in the past year and 54% in the last two years.

Ashley Hinson, Randy Feenstra, Mariannette Miller-Meeks, and Zach Nunn are continuing to take votes in DC that are making life more expensive for Iowans because they care more about putting politics ahead of Iowa.

"Iowans are paying more for everything because of our elected leaders in DC," said Iowa Democratic Party Chair Rita Hart."Under their watch, costs are continuing to go up, forcing families to dig deeper into their savings just to heat their home in the winter or insure their property when disaster strikes. In November, voters tired of high costs should retire Ashley Hinson, Randy Feenstra, Mariannette Miller-Meeks, and Zach Nunn for making their lives more unaffordable."

Home insurance rates in Iowa increased 28% in the past year making Iowa the state with the third-highest average rate increase in the nation, a report released Wednesday from Insurify shows.

The average cost of home insurance in Iowa, at $2,802 per year in 2025, remains below the national average. But the report predicts that could change considering the average cost of home insurance in Iowa has gone up by 54% in the past two years. The virtual insurance agency projects the average annual premium for a single-family home in Iowa will increase 4% by the end of 2026.
