Stanchina Named Next Marsh Agency President

John C. Stanchina, who currently oversees Marsh Agency's mid-Atlantic operations and is based in Henrico County, will become president of Marsh Agency, a middle-market insurance and employee benefits company, in 2027.

Stanchina's promotion from CEO of Marsh's mid-Atlantic region is one of several C-suite changes announced Wednesday.

Matt Stadler has been named CEO of Marsh Agency, effective Jan. 1, 2027, and will report to Nick Studer, president and CEO of Marsh Risk, its parent company. Stadler is based in Dallas and is currently the agency's president, the job Stanchina will step into next year.

A spokesperson said Stanchina intends to remain in the Richmond area, remaining Marsh's top executive in Virginia.

Marsh Agency is the new name of Marsh McLennan Agency, a rollout that started in 2026.

Guy Morrison, currently the Atlanta-based president and employee health and benefits practice leader for Marsh's mid-Atlantic region, will succeed Stanchina as mid-Atlantic CEO.

Stanchina has served as the region's CEO since 2011, a year after Marsh purchased insurance brokerage Rutherfoord, where Stanchina worked since 1994.

Marsh Agency CEO David Eslick will continue as chairman of the company after stepping down as CEO in 2027.

Stanchina graduated with a degree in accounting and art from Muskingum College (now Muskingum University) in 1987. He is an emeritus board member of the Anna Julia Cooper School and also sits on the Risk Management and Insurance Advisory Council at Virginia Commonwealth University.

Elsewhere in Virginia, Business Insurance Division Manager Eddie Smith was named president of Marsh's mid-Atlantic region, and Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Kim Enochs was named chief strategy officer. Both are based in Roanoke and have been with the company and its predecessor, Rutherfoord, for decades.
