[wa] Landlord Decided To Sell And Sent Me 60-day Termination Notice
I'm renting a house in Washington state, with a standard WA lease agreement till October 2026, there is nothing in lease agreement about early termination. My landlord apparently decided to sell the house and sent me certified mail dated May 1 "60-day termination of tenancy (Due to Sale of property / Owner Occupancy)", which says:
"This letter serves as formal written notice that the Landlord is terminating your tenancy at the above-referenced property.
Basis for Termination
The property is being sold, and the purchaser intends to occupy the property as a primary residence. Accordingly, this termination is made pursuant to the Washington Residential Landlord-Tenant Act, which permits termination of tenancy upon sale of a single-family residence when the purchaser or owner intends to occupy the unit as their principal residence.
Termination Date
Your tenancy will terminate sixty (60) days from the date of service of this notice, on:
Termination Date: July 1, 2026
You are required to vacate and surrender possession of the premises on or before this date."
What are my options here? This doesn't look right...
Thanks!
