A Man Used My Phone Number To Create An Account To Text Minors And Sell Drugs. What Are My Next Steps?
Hi, I’m really hoping for some advice in this situation. I’ve never experienced something like this.
Someone that I don’t know has used my phone number to sign up for an Instagram account. I kept getting text notifications from his account. I emailed his account and asked him to change the number, not getting a response. Finally, I used the recover password option and logged into his account with the intention to delete it or something.
In his account, I found that he had hundreds of messages trying to sell drugs and propositioning minors for sex.
I went down to the police station and made a report with screenshots. His account has email addresses, the state he lives in, and his name.
I’ve not heard back from the police and it’s been like a month now. As far as I know they’ve done nothing, and I’m still getting messages that he’s still using my number to continue doing this.
Ideally, I’d like to do what I can to protect the young girls he’s targeting.
