Apt Complex Trying To Charge $180 Water Bill

Hello. I'm currently fighting my apartment complex because they're trying to charge me for a $180 ($230 with sewer) water bill. The culprit comes from a broken toilet flapper in my roommate's room. We split utility bills but have individual leases. I don't think I should have to be responsible for this insane cost because a. We had no knowledge of this and b. It's not my room. I would have, at no point, any reason to to go in there. Not to mention a toilet flapper is something you can't really tell is broken because it's silent, so this isn't a case of my roommate being negligent. She truly had no idea. We're both fighting this right now and all my apartment complex keeps telling me is they can't apply a credit for me. (After I had to send multiple emails to get them to actually reply) Do I have any recourse whatsoever or am I just stuck?
I'm moving out in July anyways, because ever since new management took over it's been awful.
