Brother Sold A House We Bought Together On A Va Loan...what Are My Options If I Wasn't Included? In Virginia
I need help understanding a situation involving a house I was financially involved in.
My brother used his VA home loan to purchase a house for us in 2016. I contributed to the mortgage payments and was involved in the arrangement from the beginning, based on an understanding that we were sharing the investment.
In 2022 i Also took over the entire mortgage because he had lost his job. Then in 2023 i also rented it out where I managed everything.
In 2024, we had a major disagreement and communication broke down. After that, he sold the house without informing me beforehand, and I later found out the property had been sold and proceeds were taken.
I'm trying to understand how situations like this are typically handled when one person is the legal borrower on a VA loan, but another person has been contributing financially over time.
Question:
What legal or financial options exist in a situation where someone contributed to a property long-term but was not on the loan or title, and the property was later sold without their knowledge?
