Driver’s License Was Revoked 2 Years After Probation Completed With No Notice
Location: TX, USA.
I got a DUI in Colorado in 2017. I was on probation until 2020. During that time I moved to TX and finished my community service, classes, etc. I was officially off probation in 2020 and got my driving privilege reinstated.
A few days ago I went to update my driver’s license with my new address, only to find out it’s been suspended since 2022. I had no idea. 2 full years after I finished probation, CO re-suspended my license through TX.
I made some calls and I guess CO requires an evaluation to determine if the offender is safe to drive again after getting a DUI as a term of the probation. TX apparently does not, that’s how I finished my probation without anyone noticing. So in order to re-instate my license they want an evaluation.
I paid $250 for an eval and he recommended a 20 week course. This feels like BS. I’ve turned my life around, I’ve been off probation for 6 years now, I don’t drink and drive, I can’t afford not to drive to work for that long and I can’t afford to just keep paying for evaluations telling me the same thing. I’ve already paid my dues for this nearly 10-year old crime.
How can they take away my license again years after the fact? What can I do??
