Ex-boyfriend Likely Stalking Me And Broke Into My Apartment While I Was Gone, Social Worker Said I Don't Have Enough Evidence To File For A Protective Order (texas)

Location: Houston, Texas. I broke up with my (27F) boyfriend (35M) Wedesnday 3/11/26 and I went to stay at a hotel somewhere else out of fear for my safety. Sure enough, when I got back home Monday evening I find the sliding glass door in my apartment to be completely shattered, blood on the light switch and the shower curtain, and the thermostat tampered with. I believe that he may have broken in and waited for me to come home. I had a police officer come by but he took no evidence and just filed a report. I went to the district attorney's office this morning and the social worker said that I didn't have enough evidence to file for a protective order. I pointed out the fact that there was blood to a few officers and they stated that they no longer take DNA evidence for things like break ins. I'm not sure what I can do to protect myself legally, I'm having a hard time getting into contact with some of the legal agencies a social worker gave me for low-cost legal aid. I don't have any threatening messages from him but I believe that he could come back. He currently has an active case against him in another county for a violent crime but apparently that isn't enough to get a guaranteed protective order.
