Ex Is Filing False Complaints With My Employer And Licensing Board After Our Breakup. What Kind Of Lawyer Do I Need, And Should I Be Filing A Police Report Too?

Location: California. I am 31F and work in a licensed healthcare field, but I am not a doctor or nurse. I broke up with my boyfriend of about nine months in February after he started showing up at my apartment unannounced and getting weirdly controlling about who I spent time with. Since then he has been sending emails to my clinic and to the state board from different addresses accusing me of chart fraud, drinking at work, and billing for appointments I did not do. None of it is true. My employer interviewed me and at first thought it was just an angry ex, but last week they got a packet mailed to the office with copies of old selfies of us, a photo of my work badge, and a typed letter saying they were knowingly employing a danger to patients. HR placed me on administrative leave while they verify there is no compliance issue. The board also sent me notice that a complaint was opened and asked for a written response. I can prove a lot of this is him because some of the wording matches messages he sent me right after the breakup, one of the email accounts used a username he has used for years, and one envelope had his old apartment complex return zip code on it. I also have Ring footage of him coming to my building after I told him not to. Yesterday he left a voicemail saying if I was going to ruin his life by leaving, he could make sure I never worked again. I filed a harassment report with my apartment complex and changed my routine, but local police were pretty shruggy and said unless he makes a direct threat or shows up again it might be hard to do much. I am panicking because this is messing with my license, not just my feelings. I do not know if I need an employment lawyer, a defamation lawyer, someone who handles restraining orders, or a lawyer who specifically deals with licensing boards. I also do not know if responding to the board myself is a terrible idea even though I know the allegations are false and definately retaliatory. My employer has not fired me, but they told me not to contact patients or coworkers while they investigate and that feels really bad. I am trying not to do anything stupid while upset. What should my next actual steps be here, and is there a specific type of attorney I should be looking for first? Also, do I need to stop communicating with him entirely even if he keeps sending apoligetic messages in between the crazy ones and then tries to act like we can fix this?
