Ex Threatening Mediation
Location: Kansas City Missouri
Good morning folks, I’m just hoping for a third party opinion I suppose…Child is two
My ex and I have been separated since February of last year and we share one child (2/2/5/5 schedule) and officially divorced since November 2025.
We have been consistently handling everything really well. Communication has been fine, it’s usually child centered, pick ups and drop offs are super clean and have been done directly at places it residence due to her always being late and allowing for our child to go directly home instead of being bound in a car. Which she agreed in prior was in his best interest. Here’s the issue..
All of a sudden she called me and “she has not felt safe for months” talking and dropping our son off to me. She is now demanding that I use an app called AppClose for all communication as well as all drop offs are demanded to be done at a public store instead of a place of residence. If I don’t agree to her demands, she is threatening mediation.
I’m honestly just so surprised by this. She invited me to go on an outing with her and my son on her time about a month ago, she even picked me up, offered to buy me coffee, came over to my apartment and hung out, I bought us dinner, she even has come to me crying over her boyfriends breaking up with her and us stayed the night on my couch. I just don’t understand the sudden shift…
I guess my question is, do I just let her threaten mediation? I know I’d be responsible for half of the costs in accordance with our court order. Is advised to just follow what she demands? The app requires a subscription. I shouldn’t have to pay for her comfort.
