Flatmate Aggressively Banged On My Bathroom Door For 10+ Minutes While Yelling In His Language And I Felt Unsafe — What Should I Do?

Hi everyone, I need advice about a situation with my flatmate.

Yesterday, while I was in the bathroom, he started aggressively banging on the door for around 10–15 minutes. It was extremely loud and violent — it honestly felt like he was trying to break the door. He was also yelling my name repeatedly and cursing at me.

I felt very scared and unsafe. I started panicking and looked for something to protect myself but there was nothing in the bathroom. I just stayed inside until it stopped.

From what I know, he was intoxicated/high and not in a normal state of mind. This isn’t the first time there have been issues, but this was the most intense and frightening incident so far.

Afterward, I spoke to my landlord, and she suggested I stay in another apartment temporarily, which I’m doing right now. But I’m still unsure what to do next.

I’m feeling very uneasy about going back. I don’t know if this counts as harassment or something more serious, and I’m not sure what my rights are in this situation in Canada (Quebec).

What would you do in my situation?
Should I report this, try to break the lease, or take legal steps?

Any advice is appreciated.
